Dumsor Is Mahama’s Presidential Legacy- Akufo-Addo

However, he noted that Mahama’s regime remains etched in the memories of Ghanaians due to the most unpopular challenges they faced during his tenure.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stated that the erratic power supply, known in the local dialect as ‘dumsor’, epitomizes the tenure of former President and 2024 Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama.

Delivering an address as part of his “Thank You” tour in the Northeast Region, the 80-year-old ironically stated that the former President like all past heads of state in the Fourth Republic is remembered for his works.

He noted that Jerry John Rawlings is credited for the decentralization of government; John Agyekum Kufuor for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS); and himself for the Free SHS.

However, he noted that Mahama’s regime remains etched in the memories of Ghanaians due to the most unpopular challenges they faced during his tenure.

“When you mention the name of JJ Rawlings, District Assemblies come to mind. When you mention the name of John Agyekum Kufuor, the National Health Insurance Scheme comes to mind, when you mention Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Free Senior High School comes to mind but when you mention John Mahama, Dumsor, Dumsor, Dumsor ever we hear.”

He therefore affirmed that voting him into office won’t be in the good of the country.

“We want someone who is going to take our country forward not backwards.”

The issue of erratic power supply started under the leadership of Kufuor; however, it went out of hand during the administration of Mahama, subsequently making him unpopular and falling out with the masses.
