‘Dumsor’ will soon be a thing of the past – Bawumia assures

The inconsistency and lack of communication have prompted many people to vent their anger on social media, with some calling for the resignation of the Energy Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh. There is a growing sense that the absence of a load-shedding timetable indicates a lack of respect for Ghanaians who are demanding more transparency and predictability in power distribution.

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has assured Ghanaians that the current power outages will soon be a thing of the past.

According to him, the Ministry of Energy is actively working to resolve the challenges which have led to widespread anger among a section of the populace.

In a breakfast meeting with regional leaders ahead of his nationwide election campaign on Monday, April 29, 2024, Dr. Bawumia promised that the issues would soon be resolved.

“I know that there are challenges, we are going to work on them. Currently, we have issues with power, the assurance from the Minister for Energy is that those power challenges will very soon be a thing of the past, they are working at it,” he noted.

Ghana’s ongoing power outages, commonly referred to as “dumsor,” are creating frustration among citizens due to the frequent and unpredictable blackouts. These disruptions affect daily life and businesses, and authorities provide no schedule or warning ahead of time.
