The Eastern Region is set to host the second edition of the 2024 Regional Townhall Meetings and Exhibitions on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
This event will be held at the Centre for National Culture in Koforidua and is expected to serve as a significant platform for showcasing the achievements of the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia-led administration.
Organized by the Ministry of Information, the townhall meetings aim to promote inclusive governance and boost citizen engagement. The series began in the Greater Accra Region on August 6, 2024, at the Teachers’ Hall.
The first event enabled government officials to interact with the public, respond to questions, and provide updates on various developmental projects. At the Greater Accra event, the Regional Minister, Daniel Titus Glover, Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, and Information Minister Fatimatu Abubakar highlighted several key projects and initiatives, including measures to stabilize the economy and improve infrastructure in the region.
The upcoming meeting in Koforidua will continue this effort by allowing residents to engage directly with government representatives, including the Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong; Deputy Minister for Finance, Dr. Alex Ampaabeng; Presidential Advisor on Health, Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare; and other key stakeholders.
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions on various issues, such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure development, and explore the different projects on display.
This event in the Eastern Region is part of a nationwide series that will cover all 16 regions. The series will culminate in a national forum, where feedback and recommendations from all regions will be compiled and presented to the government for consideration and implementation.
The Ministry of Information emphasizes that these townhall meetings are crucial for bringing governance closer to the people, ensuring that government actions align with the needs and expectations of citizens across the country.
