The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has served notice of an impending disruption in power supply in some parts of the Greater Accra region. This has become necessary due to ongoing system improvement works on the Pokuase Bulk Supply Point.
The ECG in a press release stated that the project will require a complete shutdown of its 330KV transmission line thereby affecting power supply and reliability to the Mallam Bulk Supply Point.
A timetable which is to take effect from May 10-17 has been released to guide the disruptions as follows:
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ECG, Agyemang Badu, who announced the creation of the timetable said the scheduled outages will be rotated to minimize the impact on the affected areas adding that “we are coming out with a planned schedule whereby affected areas will be grouped into four…this would be done in such a way that there would probably be a 12 hour outage in the day time and then in 3days time there will be another outage at night ensuring that no single customer will experience the outages throughout the eight days.”
