Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, over the years has faced a severe criticism following his political affiliation tag.
The Asantehene was once tagged as a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) when the party was in power.
Currently, some NDC syapatisers believe that the Asante Monarch is in bed with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In a post of X (Formerly Twitter), “the Asante Nation” stated that the Asantehene’s credibility and neutrality can not be tarnished by any political party.
“You can pay your sympathizers to insult him any day, anytime, anywhere and anyhow. There is one thing you can never achieve no matter how hard you try, to sow his political CREDIBILITY and NEUTRALITY with dirt. 25 years as Asantehene, his demeanour has never changed in favour of or against any political party. Let Alan Kyeremanten win the December poll and you will call Otumfuo a member of the Movement for Change.” The Asante Nation wrote.
“Power has changed, now NPP is in power, Ghana is experiencing hardship again and suddenly, the NDC tag on Otumfuo has been wiped off, now Asantehene is NPP because he is quiet. The reknown NDC is now an NPP. He is reciprocating the same thing he did when the NDC was in power. What is good for the goose is equally good for the gander?” He added.

I hope you remember this video. Somewhere in 2016 when John Dramani Mahama @JDMahama was dancing to Daddy Lumba’s ‘Yentie obiaa’ with Otumfuo at the Manhyia Palace somewhere in 2016.
You were happy to see the whole Asante King dance with your flagbearer. They tagged the Asantehene as an NDC member. Do you remember the 2012 Supreme Court verdict that went in favour of Mahama? A lot of rumours went around particularly, from the NPP camp that Otumfuo had given gold bars to the S.C judges to favour Mahama. Somebody that he had no distant relation or blood ties with.
Those who believed the 2012 rumour now had their minds made up that Otumfuo is an NDC when they saw the video of Asantehene dancing with Mahama. When the then-opposition party NPP were crying and throwing jabs at Manhyia, you were happy because the Asantehene was I quote “In bed with NDC”.
Throughout Mahama and the late President J.E.A Mills’s reign, Otumfuo never coughed nor complained throughout the 8 years of hardship that made your party lose power in 2016. You were happy because at the time Otumfuo was an NDC member. Lol!
