“Historically, when we hear politicians speak, we never really doubted them because politicians were honorable, all of them…20 years also we have had cause to doubt the things politicians say because sometimes politicians say something and we find out it’s not true” – Paul Adom-Otchere, Good Evening Ghana.
Bearing this in mind, I also state, journalists in past years are trusted, credible, revered and admired by people from all walks of life. The likes of Komla Dumor of blessed memory, Elizabeth Akua Ohene, Gifty Anti and Emma Morrison lifted the standards of journalism to an enviable level. But today the likes of you, Paul Adom-Otchere have lowered these high-set standards, making this noble profession a cheap stepping stone to attaining political heights and enjoying political freebies.
I write to condemn your unguided utterances against the Klottey-Korle Member of Parliament, Dr. Zanator Agyeman-Rawlings.
Instead of you to tackle the substance of her allegations, you rather decided to attack her personally. That reminds me of one of the fallacies I studied in my early years in the university (AD HOMINEM) and being a political science student, you should have known better.
I find it so disheartening and unbelievable that these words actually came out of your mouth,
“The reason you can come from no where to be elected as a Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle is because you are J.J’s daughter”.
You call the statement she issued damning, this uncouth utterance from you is way beyond damning. So wait a minute Paul, do you mean to tell me that, your wife Rosemond Adom-Otchere is a no body without you and that she’s a Board Member of the Ghana Free Zones Board because she’s married to you, Paul Adom-Otchere?
Seriously, it’s high time women are respected and appreciated for their efforts to attain greatness.
Honestly, you are gradually loosing it Paul, with regards to credibility and integrity that’s if you haven’t already lost it.
Ghanaians still remember your interview on Bola Ray’s Starr Chat, where you said Nii Ardey Clegg helped you write an Interim Assessment (IA) when you were both studying political science as undergrads and how he (Clegg) boldly stood his grounds and called you a liar. As if not enough, he defended himself and made sure you apologized for peddling lies against him.
Paul, we still remember the “It didn’t occur and I apologize for it” statement from you.
Today you want to go teach someone how to behave right. Is this not ironic? Perhaps, that’s why Clegg has been called to the Bar and you are here disguised as a journalist, meanwhile, you are just a stooge in the hands of your paymasters.
Let me remind you of how Rasheeda Adams, convenor of the #DropThatChamber demonstration described you. She accused you, Paul Adom-Otchere of being a bully and stated further that your style of journalism is unprofessional, just go to Ghanaweb the story is still there.
Mr. I know it all and special adviser, please allow me to make a noble request, you see that emotional outburst on your show last night, please use that same energy and advocate for the salary arrears of your co-workers at Metro TV. Let me bring to your notice that, for the past four months, their salaries hasn’t been paid, and oh, just when they thought there is some good news in this lockdown, only one month salary was paid. How are they supposed to feed and feel comfortable especially during this period?
Passionate Paul, at least channel your sweet talk and energy to fight this worthy cause for your colleagues. Hope this is not too much to ask…
Till I come your way again, hopefully to thank you for the intervention, let us keep safe. We are indeed not in normal times.
