Haruna Iddrisu, the Member of Parliament for Tamale South and former Minority Leader, has labeled the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration as the worst in the Fourth Republic, attributing economic hardships to their poor performance and mismanagement.
Speaking at the campaign launch of the Member of Parliament for Asawase in the Ashanti region, he pledged that the NDC would work to uncover any wrongful and fraudulent activities by the New Patriotic Party, especially in the Ashanti region. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding the ballots in the upcoming December elections to prevent rigging.
Mr. Iddrisu expressed confidence that the Ashanti region would overwhelmingly support the NDC in the forthcoming elections due to the NPP’s poor performance in the area. He pointed out that the NDC needs just over 35% of the votes in the Ashanti region to secure victory.
He commended Muntaka Mohammed, the NDC’s candidate for the Asawase constituency, as a strong representative who would continue to serve the people of Ghana and the Muslim Ummah well in Parliament. Mr. Iddrisu urged Ghanaians to grant President John Dramani Mahama another four-year term, promising effective governance for the Ghanaian people.
He reiterated that the NPP is the worst government in the history of the Fourth Republic.
“You saw the crowd this morning and we are seeing the crowd here. I hear the NPP saying that Ashanti is for NPP. Ashanti is only for NPP if they are performing. And Ashanti is only for NPP if businesses are good. Ashanti is only for NPP if unemployment was low. And therefore, we are optimistic that Asanteman will support John Dramani Mahama and support NDC to win.”
“We need just a little above 35% in the Ashanti region, and we declare John Dramani Mahama the winner of the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections. That is our aspiration, and we must work towards that. Hon. Muntaka Mohammed is your formidable representative in Parliament. He will continue to do good to the people of Ghana and serve the Muslim Ummah better in Parliament. He has done it before, and he will continue to do it.”
