Election 2024: We will not repeat the 2016, 2024 mistakes – Mahama

He made the statement after paying a courtesy call on the Chiana pio during his campaign tour to the Upper East Region where he was given a warrior title.

John Dramani Mahama, flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has assured members of his party and the general public that the mistakes they did in the 2016 and 2020 elections will not be repeated in 2024.

Quoting the popular Akan adage that ‘the testicles of a fool is not stepped twice’, John Mahama noted that the mistakes they committed in the two previous elections will not reoccur this time around.

He made the statement after paying a courtesy call on the Chiana pio during his campaign tour to the Upper East Region where he was given a warrior title.

According to the President of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs and the paramount chief of the Chiana Traditional area, Pe Dituudini Adiana Ayagitam III, John Mahama is a befitting warrior.

The chief says the 2024 election which John Mahama is contesting is a war and deserves the title of a befitting warrior heading into the contest.

Accepting the title, John Mahama assured the chief that the mistakes the NDC did in the 2016 and 2020 elections are not going to be repeated.

He promised to rescue the country from the clutches of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“If in 2016 we made a mistake and then again in 2020 we made a mistake, 2024 we cannot make the same mistake because in Twi, they say ‘you don’t step several times on a fool’s something’.

“We have experienced 8 years of NPP. Things are hard farmers are suffering, everybody is suffering. Indeed there was somebody in 2016 who said ‘farmers are suffering! Teachers are suffering! Nurses are suffering! Doctors are suffering! and everybody is suffering!” he stated.
