The Sitsofe Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church Ghana (EPCG) at Dzolo Gbogame in the Ho West District of the Volta Region has dedicated a newly built ultra-modern chapel to the service of God.
Speaking during the dedication ceremony, Pastor of the church, Rev. Mathew A.K Amuzu, narrated that, the Sitsofe congregation was established in 1911 with 12 members with a humble beginning.
He noted that, the congregation has over the years mobilized funds from church members and other philanthropists to build an ultra-modern chapel to accommodate congregants during church services.
He said the church which started it’s first service with few members now has an adult population of 530.
Moderator of the General Assembly of EPCG, Rt. Rev. Lt. Col Bliss Divine Agbeko (RTD), noted that, people nowadays establish churches to create jobs for themselves.
According to him, these people do anything to extort and drain members out of everything and end up oppressing them all in the name of the gospel, adding that, members hardly get support from these churches.
He said, ministry and the worship of God must find ways to alleviate the burden on people but not receiving from the members while the receiver feeds fat on what people struggle to bring in the name of religion and God.
“You collect all there, acquire wealth for yourself, feel good and call it blessing, what blessings are the people receiving? You make people pray day, night and fast yet their problems are not solved making them to move from one prayer camp to another seeking alleviation and freedom,” he lamented.
He said there are new challenges and not until these challenges are identified by the church, they will still use the things written down to address some issues same way and be exploring people.
He encouraged African churches to consider economic investment so that they can use the benefits to solve people’s problems and other challenges of the church.
He added that, with profitable investment, the church can generate revenue to build hospitals, schools among other things that will be a blessing to the community.
He further advised all Christians to keep their surroundings clean and always remember to conserve the environment by planting trees for better life, adding that, climatic change is affecting the world negatively.
