Training Workshop for New Parliamentarians is currently underway

A three day workshop for new Members of Parliament is currently underway in Ada.

The workshop is aimed at equiping the new Parliamentarians with the requisite skills to enable them to navigate their way in Parliament with ease as they begin their journey into law making.

At a ceremony to officially open the workshop, Clerk-to-Parliament, Cyril Nsiah, urged the participants to learn from their senior colleagues, as Parliamentary rudiments are best mastered through experience.

He  assured them of Parliament’s commitment to assisting them with expert and impartial service.

In their remarks, both Haruna Iddrisu and Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Minority and Majority Leaders of Parliament respectively emphasized the need for the new members to learn from old members, adding that, Ghana will be best served if Members work towards an excellent Parliament.

Speaker of the 8th Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, called on the new MPs to eschew partisanship in their Parliamentary duties. He also pledged his commitment to leading the House to work for the ultimate benefit of the country.

The workshop which started today with a lecture by the Speaker on the roles, duties and responsibilities of the Member of Parliament is expected to end on Monday morning.
