The Volta Regional capital, Ho is reeling from a tragic accident that claimed the lives of nine individuals, including infants.
The incident occurred at the foot of Galenkui Mountain when a 207 Benz bus transporting passengers and goods from Abotoase to Sogakofe allegedly experienced brake failure and collided with a Zoomlion refuse truck.
Initial reports confirmed seven fatalities, but a nurse from Ho Municipal Hospital later revealed that approximately 10 people lost their lives in the tragedy.
The Ho Teaching Hospital has since reported that 32 individuals were admitted for injuries sustained in the accident, with nine tragically succumbing to their injuries.
Despite the grim toll, officials have provided reassurance that the injured victims are receiving medical care and are displaying signs of progress in their recovery.
The accident has left the small community in shock, with many offering condolences to the families affected.
Investigation into the incident is ongoing, but authorities have urged drivers to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy and well-maintained to avoid future tragedies.
