A former Deputy Organizer of the USA branch of the New Patriotic Party, Ali Suraj, has distributed some 4000 pieces of hand sanitizers and soaps to residents of the Asokore mampong municipal assembly in the Ashanti Region to help protect the residents from the coronavirus pandemic in Ghana. The country has so far recorded about 24 cases.
The beneficiary communities included the people of Dagomba line, Aboabo market women and the management of the Nima branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU). He admonished them to strictly observe the basic precautionary measures including; handwashing under running water and soap, using alcohol based sanitizers to clean hands, covering of mouth when coughing or sneezing, and the avoid coming into contact with persons showing symptoms of fever or flu.
The distribution of the items took place last Friday as a follow-up to an earlier distribution of two thousand pieces of hand sanitizers to residents of Nima in Accra.
Ali Suraj, interacting with the management of the Nima branch of the GPRTU underlined the move as part of the efforts aimed at providing residents of the Zongo community with basic safety items to help protect them from COVID-19. Mr. Suraj also called on all persons to help in every way possible to combat the global menace.
“The fight against coronavirus is not an individual fight, it is a fight that we all as Ghanaians should join hands and help our leaders to send this unknown disease away, I call on all persons especially the well to do in our community to at least buy one sanitizer for the poor and the destitute” Mr. Suraj stated.
