Five Coaches that Could be Sacked in the Premier League this Season

In this piece, we'll go over five managers who are likeliest to be disposed of. While reading, there are sure to be some surprising names on this list who could be sacked this season.

It’s that time of year again where speculation starts to mount over which Premier League managers will be shown the door come the end of the season.

The English Premier League, as we know it, is one of the most brutal and unforgiving leagues. Coaches here are chopped off by the minute, with very little tolerance for underperformance.

Inevitably, some managers will be thrown off, as we have seen Chelsea dispose of Thomas Tuchel. Predictions, as on Telecomasia, are high that a significant number of upsets will happen this season.

In this piece, we’ll go over five managers who are likeliest to be disposed of. While reading, there are sure to be some surprising names on this list who could be sacked this season.

We’ve also included our thoughts on why they might get axed from their current jobs!

1. Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool)

Guess this is the last name you expect to see! Yes, Liverpool has been resoundingly successful under Klopp, but the recent drubbing by Napoli sent the alarm bells ringing!

Indeed, the writing is on the wall for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. He has failed to deliver good results for the Reds this season.

With the team currently languishing in seventh place, it looks like they will miss out on Champions League qualification for next season if they keep performing weirdly.

This poor run of form could be due to the loss of Sadio Mane during the summer, who they replaced with Darwin Nunez. Unfortunately, the Uruguayan forward hasn’t lived up to expectations yet.

However, there’s no doubt that Klopp is world-class and has been one of the most successful managers in Liverpool.

Due to that, he has built some level of trust and respect among the board of directors in the club. But there could be a scenario whereby Liverpool’s boards will be growing impatient if the German coach doesn’t turn things around soon. In that case, Klopp could be shown the exit door.

2. Steven Gerrard (Aston Villa)

The 2020-21 season was fantastic for Aston Villa, as they finished in 11th place in the Premier League. However, 20201-22 has been even worse, as they currently sit in 17th place and are in danger of being relegated if they continue this poor run of form.

One of the main reasons for their struggles has been the lack of goals, as they have scored just 5 times in 6 league games. Another problem has been their defense, which has conceded 10 goals.

Manager Steven Gerrard has come under fire for the team’s poor performance, and many fans are calling for his head. It’s looking increasingly likely that Gerrard will be sacked before the end of the season unless Aston Villa can turn things around quickly.

3. Brendan Rodgers (Leicester City)

It’s been a tough season for Leicester City and Brendan Rodgers. The team has struggled to find consistency, and results have been poor.

They sit at the bottom edge of the EPL table, having recorded zero wins in their first six premier league games.

There have been calls for Rodgers to be sacked and it’s looking increasingly likely that he will be axed before the end of the season.

However, there are some factors to consider before sacking Brendan Rodgers. Looking at it from one aspect, you could say that the manager wasn’t properly backed with signings during the summer. Likewise, with the loss of their key player—Wesley Fofana—things didn’t play out well for the manager. Hence, their poor run of form for this season.

4. Frank Lampard (Everton)

With Everton’s disappointing start to the season, many are wondering if manager Frank Lampard is on the hot seat.

The Toffees had zero wins, four draws, and two losses in their first six Premier League games.

Lampard is in his second season as a manager of Everton, and he may not be given much more time to turn things around if the team continues to struggle.

The only thing that would save his job this season is if he happens to turn things around. Else, he will be the next in line to be sacked.

5. Bruno Lage (Wolverhampton Wanderers)

Bruno Lage has only been in charge of Wolverhampton Wanderers for more than a year, but he could already be on his way out of the club. He replaced Nuno Espirito Santo earlier last season, intending to rejuvenate the Wolves team.

However, the Portuguese coach has failed to improve the team’s performances and results this season.

And with the club now sitting at the lower end of the Premier League table, they are in danger of missing out on European competition. As it stands, if Wolves do go down further, Lage will likely be sacked.

Conclusion

This season has been a tough one for coaches in the Premier League, with many of them finding themselves on the hot seat.

The five coaches mentioned above are potential coaches that could be sacked before the season is over. The likes of Thomas Tuchel (Chelsea) and Scott Parker (Bournemouth) have already been sacked this season.

If there is one thing that we can all learn from this list, it is that there are a couple of coaches in danger this season if they don’t produce positive results for their respective teams soon enough.
