Fuel Prices: Akufo-Addo government is demonstrating insensitivity to Ghanaians – Minority

The acting minority spokesperson on energy in Parliament, John Abu Jinapor, has accused the President Akufo-Addo government of insensitivity to the plight of Ghanaians following the recent hike in fuel prices and other petroleum products.

Addressing journalists in parliament on Friday, February 19, 2021, the Minority group noted that, in just under two months after the December 2020 General elections, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has failed to absorb increased fuel prices to ease the burden of Ghanaians in this coronavirus pandemic.

According to John Jinapor who is a former Deputy Minister for Energy, prices of fuel have increased to 5.2 per liter in less than two months.

He said the Minority group will continue to stand by the Ghanaian public to demand better management services from the Akufo-Addo government always.

He said though the price of fuel is a global issue, the government has to intervene and ensure that the plight of the already impoverished in society does not worsen.

He served notice that the Minority would join forces with the ordinary Ghanaian to demand reduction in fuel prices as a matter of necessity

Jinapor said the mismanagement of the petroleum sector is having a toll on Ghanaians and the government has a responsibility to reduce the pressure.
