Ga West MCE Dupes Chief Over GH¢125,000

The Ga West Municipal Chief Executive Officer, MCEr, Nii Lamptey Wilkinson, is reported to had swindled the Chief of Koobiman, Nii Tetteh Mensah Kootse I, of the Greater Accra Region of 125,000.00 Ghana Cedis.

The MCE, prior to the 2016 general elections, came to the chief in the name of Hon. Joe Ghartey requesting for such amount.

Hon. Nii Lamtey used the former Attorney General’s name and capacity to swindle the chief of such a huge amount.

The MCE in his quest to becoming Member of Parliament MP for the area and was cash trapped resulted in using any foul means to get campaign cash for his Parliamentary bid.

As an MP aspirant on the ticket of New Patriotic Party NPP, Hon. Nii Wilkinson promised to pay back the money as soon as they won the 2016 elections and he is made MCE in the likely event that he did not win the parliamentary election.

He took the loan on January 17, 2019 from the Chief to allegedly influence his way through to become the Municipal Chief Executive for the Ga West Assembly.

Ghanaiandemocrat.com has gathered from the close source at the chief’s palace that, the MCE came to deceive him to lend him the amount of 125,000 Ghana Cedis from him in the name of Minister for Railways, hon. Joe Ghartey.

This portal had sighted copy of agreement document signed by both parties, Mr. Wilkinson appeared representing the Minister, Joe Ghartey’s name did not appeared in the document.

When we contacted Nii Tetteh Mensah Kootse I, to confirm the information which the chief stated that the Minister for Railways, Joe Ghartey also told him (Nii Tetteh Mensah Kootse I), has not asked the MCE to collect any money for him whatsoever.

According to him, he gave the cash to the MCE on the 7th of January 2017 after an agreement was signed between the two parties despite interventions and extensions of time, the MCE has not shown interest of refunding the money.

Nii Lamptey Wilkinson after using property documents, we have learnt, was given to him by Foreign Affairs Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botwey as collateral for the loan has since gone missing.

Nii Tetteh Mensah Kootse I, after persistent calls for the MCE to service his indebtedness, the MCE issued a postdated cheque for 130 thousand Ghana Cedis which was turned down by the bank.

The chief took the matter to court and the court ruled in his favor after the failure of the MCE to appear in court.

According to our source, the court has since instructed a bailiff to serve the MCE the judgment while they await the next line of action.

Though, several interventions by the leadership of the party to get the MCE pay the money, this portal has learnt from the corridors of government proved futile.

A Committee was setup to investigate the matter by the party led by Mr. Peter Mac Manu to invite both the MCE and the Nii Tetteh which the committee promised to get back to the chief as soon as possible.
