The Gaming Commission of Ghana has designated the month of September as Responsible Gaming Awareness Month, with a focus on promoting ethical and responsible gaming practices for the sustainable development of the industry.
In this inaugural celebration, the commission is highlighting the importance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles within the gaming sector. The month-long activities aim to underscore the commission’s commitment to ensuring that the growth of Ghana’s gaming industry adheres to ethical standards and contributes positively to society.
During the launch, Peter Mireku, the CEO of the Gaming Commission, noted that technology has become central to the industry, with gaming evolving into a popular activity across Ghana. This rapid growth has created a need for increased oversight and the promotion of responsible gaming practices.
Mireku emphasized that his goal is to ensure that as the industry expands, it does so in a manner that benefits everyone by leveraging digitalization to enhance gaming experiences.
As the regulator of Ghana’s gaming industry, the commission has set several objectives for this awareness month. These include addressing the broader impact of gaming on public health and well-being, promoting responsible gaming practices, and providing support for individuals affected by gaming-related issues. Additionally, the commission encourages gaming operators to invest in community development initiatives and support technological advancements within the industry.
