GBC Volta Star Radio Pays Medical Bill for 12 Year Old Boy

Young Muntari was diagnosed of Hemoperitoneum, sometimes also called intra-abdominal hemorrhage or intraperitoneal hemorrhage

 

The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) even though was introduced in Ghana to ensure equity in healthcare access, not all is able to enroll unto it. This makes access to health care by that category of people very challenging.

In the case of twelve year old boy Muntari Mohamed, his parent’s inability to pay for health care offered to him at the Ho Teaching Hospital, resulted into the poor boy’s failure to be sent home even though he was discharged a little over a month ago.

Management and staff of Volta Star Radio in Ho, a Ghana Broadcasting Cooperation’s Radio Station in the Volta Region, moved in by raising funds to cater for the medical bills of young Muntari.

Presenting the funds raised for young Muntari at the four court of the Ho Teaching Hospital, Togbe Akwensi on behalf of the Regional Director of GBC, John Gadawusu, said that, it was important every legitimate means is used in solving problems in society especially ones that concerns the underprivileged.

He assured the institutions willingness to continue to support the underprivileged in society and asked that there is need for a well-established relationship between Volta Star Radio and the Ho Teaching Hospital so that aim is achieved.

Young Muntari was diagnosed of Hemoperitoneum, sometimes also called intra-abdominal hemorrhage or intraperitoneal hemorrhage. Therefore, a Splenectomy was demanded on him by health officials of the said facility. This happened after he fell while in school and developed Clinic Fracture.

Mr George Tetteh, Acting Director of Administration at the Ho Teaching Hospital expressed delight and said that, it was the desire of Management of the facility to collaborate with intuitions in solving problems that the underprivileged encounter.

He encouraged Management of Volta Star Radio to not relent in their efforts in going to the aid of the underprivileged.

A former Moderator of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Very Rev. Japheth Yao Ledo, who also contributed towards the relief of young Muntari said that, ‘in vain you fast and pray when your neighbor is suffering beside you’ he said and added that, it was important for brothers to be each other’s keeper.
