Newmont Africa’s Ahafo South Mine has once again been crowned the top company in Ghana at the 2024 Ghana Club 100 Awards.
The 21st edition, the event was organised by the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) and took place on Friday, October 25, at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, Accra.
This consecutive win underscores Newmont’s leadership in Ghana’s corporate and mining sectors.
Securing the apex spot, Newmont Africa outperformed industry giants like Goldfields Ghana Ltd and MTN Ghana, who took second and third places, respectively.
The Ghana Club 100 Awards, established in 1998, celebrates excellence in Ghana’s private sector, honouring companies with exceptional corporate governance, financial stability, and economic contributions under the theme ‘Fostering Domestic Champions: Building Local Capacity’.
The 2024 Ghana Club 100 Awards focused on celebrating businesses that not only excel in their fields but also contribute significantly to Ghana’s economic development and capacity building.
The awards, designed to inspire Ghanaian businesses to raise the bar in corporate governance and responsible business practices, aligns with the GIPC’s goal of creating a benchmark for excellence in Ghana’s private sector. By highlighting the achievements of top companies, the awards scheme also encourages other firms to innovate, expand, and adopt best practices.
Speaking at the event Chief Executive Officer of GIPC, Yoofi Grant, praised Ghana’s economic recovery amid global challenges, noting robust public-private partnerships will be key to sustaining growth.
For GIPC, the Ghana Club 100 Awards is an opportunity to showcase the success stories of Ghanaian businesses, incentivising them to maintain high standards while motivating others to aim for inclusion in the prestigious list.
