The Electoral Commission of Ghana has scheduled a voter registration mop-up exercise from August 1 to August 3, 2024, to accommodate individuals who turned 18 after the initial registration period or missed out earlier.
Chairperson Jean Mensa disclosed the commission’s plans during a briefing with the Election Security Taskforce, headed by Inspector General of Police Dr. George Akuffu Dampare. The meeting aimed to review election security measures for the year’s first half.
“The mop-up voter registration exercise is designed to ensure that eligible individuals, including those who have reached voting age since May 29, and others who missed earlier opportunities, can be included on our voter register,” Mensa stated.
Additionally, the Electoral Commission announced a voter exhibition exercise scheduled for August 20 to August 27, 2024.
The initiatives are part of efforts to facilitate broad participation in the electoral process ahead of the upcoming elections.
