Ghana legend Sulley Muntari set to replace injured Edmund Addo

The Hearts of Oak SC midfielder is one of the players being monitored and considered by the Ghana Football Association to replace the Moldova-based midfielder.

Ghana legend Sulley Ali Muntari could be called as likely replacement for injured youngster Edmund Addo in the Black Stars squad.

The 21-year-old picked up a knock over the weekend when playing for his club FC Sherrif against Sfintul Gheorge but traveled to Ghana for the impending world cup qualifier against Nigeria.

After his arrival in the country, his injury was seen as worse than earlier thought and has officially been ruled out of the game as he has to fly back to his club for a scan.

The Hearts of Oak SC midfielder is one of the players being monitored and considered by the Ghana Football Association to replace the Moldova-based midfielder.

Muntari has been to all three world cups Ghana has partake and could bring his experience to bare at this crucial time for the Ghana senior national team.

He has scored one goal, provided one assist and has won one trophy since joining the Phobians in just seven matches.

Ghana host Nigeria on Friday, March 25 before travelling to Abuja for the 2nd leg on Tuesday evening.

During his time at the Black Stars, the former Inter Milan, AC Milan midfielder provided as assist for Michael Essien against the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Ghana and Ghana’s 4-1 friendly win over Nigeria at the Brentford’s Griffin park .
