The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has expressed its overwhelming gratitude to the numerous fans who filled the Accra Sports Stadium to witness and cheer the Black Stars on in their third Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan.
According to the FA, the spectators played the crucial role of the 12th player at the stadium.
“Your energy, enthusiasm, and unwavering support were the 12th player on the field, driving our team forward.”
It added, “Your presence and loyalty are what make Ghanaian football truly special. We appreciate the sacrifices you made to be there, from braving the traffic to securing tickets and joining the sea of passionate fans. Your voices, drums, and cheers created an electric atmosphere that inspired our players to give their all.”
It also appreciated all efforts by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Sports Authority, the Security Services including the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Fire Service, the National Security and the Media.
“Thank you for being an integral part of our football community. We are honoured to have agencies, institutions and fans like you who embody the spirit of Ghanaian football. We look forward to your continued support as we strive for greatness.”
In spite of the support of the home crowd, the Black Stars failed to capitalize on their chances, thereby ending the game in a stalemate.
As it stands, Ghana are third in Group F with two points. Undefeated Angola are leading the group with six points from two games, followed by Sudan with four points. Niger are bottom with one point.
Niger and Angola will face off today, October 11 in Matchday three.
The return leg for Ghana will be played in Libya on October 15, 2024.
