The Ghana International Trade Fair Company (GITFC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI), GIZ and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) have scheduled to host the 2020 trade and exhibition fair in Tamale in the Northern Region.
The exhibition which will take place from 27th February to 8th March, 2020 at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium would feature trade partners in Made-in-Ghana products across the country.
The show which is aimed at ensuring massive structural transformation of the Ghanaian economy from our dependence on export of basic raw materials to industrial processing of the produce for both the local and international markets is under the theme: “Value Addition; Trading Globally”,
The Chief Executive of GITFC, Dr. Agnes Adu has staed in a statement that the fair is targeting value chain addition across all the business divide of both small, medium and high scale industries across the length and breadth of the country.
“The Government of Ghana under the administration of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo initiated the value addition policy in all areas of the economic and trade divide”, the statement said.
According to her, job creation would be enhanced to enable the teeming youth to be gainfully employed and as well to ensure sustainability of the concept that the local industries need to adhere to in the value chain concept to secure continuity.
“A healthy partnership with Ministry of Food and Agriculture, GIZ and Northern Development Authority (NDA) with advanced expertise of the North will go a long way to ensure sustainable execution of both the value chain addition and our partnership,” she noted.
The statement said investors, buyers and industry players would be brought together under one roof to promote made in Ghana wares that can create investment opportunities in the Northern part of the country for both local and international investors.
The GITFC is therefore seeking collaborative effort of stakeholders to make the fair successful. Other activities scheduled under the programme include Seminars, Entertainments, Children’s play-station and Durbar of Chiefs, among others.
Key stakeholders to the fair include Government agencies and departments, financial institutions, media and development partners of the international community.
