Give Us Back Our Lands-Onamroko Family To Gov’t

The Onamroko Adain Family has through a statement called on the attention of the government and all appropriate agencies to take necessary steps to protect their family land.

According to the family, there are the undisputed owners of all lands known as Dome Lands, including a greater part of the property acquired by the government for the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission, Kwabenya under E.I 75/73.

The statement which was signed by C. J Reindolf, the Acting Head of Family said the government of Ghana in 2008, promised to release 20% of all acquired lands in Accra to the original owners, as such the Omamroko Adain Family were to receive 401 acres from the Atomic Energy Commission.

It also recounted the decision by the family to go to court in 2009 to assert their claim for that land.

”Judgment was delivered in our favour. Till date, the government has only released 150 acres which, has been duly registered at the Land Title Registry,” it read.

The Acting Family head said they are currently in consultation with the government to release the remaining acres to them.

But the statement expressed over what it says is the attempt by some officials of the Atomic Energy in collaboration with the family of Nii Odai Ntow of Kwabenya who are claiming to be owners of the land by 1904 document and also by a declaration of 1975 to deprive them of their right to the land.

The family was emphatic that the Atomic Energy Commission was abusing its powers and having disregard for the orders of the court to hand over their lands to them.
