Gov’t received ¢500bn in taxes, loans and grants but has very little to show for – Edudzi Tamekloe

, “as I speak to you, the mismanagement of the economy of a government that has gotten over ¢500billion in taxes, grants and loans but has very little to show for, is the reason why today, we are where we are.”

The Akufo-Addo administration has mismanaged the economy hence, the challenges Ghanaians are facing at the moment, a private legal practitioner, Mr Godwin Edudzi Tameklo has said.

He stated that the government has received ¢500billion in taxes, grants and loan however has very little projects to show for.

Speaking on the New Day s with Johnnie Hughes on TV3, while contributing to discussions on the the decision by the government to go to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for support, Mr Tameklo who is member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) said, “as I speak to you, the mismanagement of the economy of a government that has gotten over ¢500billion in taxes, grants and loans but has very little to show for, is the reason why today, we are where we are.”

Responding to him, the Director Communications of the New Patriotic Party, Yaw Buaben Asamoa refuted the claim that the government has mismanaged the economy.

He explained that the conditions that have necessitated the decision to go to the IMF are global issues and not just in Ghana.

The Ministry of Finance has announced in a statement that the delegation from the IMF is scheduled to arrive in Accra, today Tuesday July 5.

Subsequent to the directive by the President of the Republic of Ghana, the Ministry said it has commenced engagement with the the Fund to support Ghana’s economic programme.

“Pursuant to this, a delegation from the Fund is scheduled to arrive in Accra on Tuesday 5th July, 2022, to commence in-person meetings with the Government of Ghana on Wednesday 6th July, 2022.
