Government has targeted over 600 new enterprises by 2028 under President Mahama’s leadership, leveraging the Kwahu Business Forum to drive investment and job creation.
The Government of Ghana has unveiled plans to establish more than 600 new enterprises by the end of President John Dramani Mahama’s current four-year term, in a bold move to revitalize the private sector and stimulate national economic growth.
This ambitious target is expected to gain momentum through the upcoming Kwahu Business Forum, scheduled for Saturday, April 19, 2025. The forum is designed to foster dialogue and collaboration between financial institutions and private sector actors to unlock innovative investment opportunities and financing strategies.
Speaking to journalists on Monday, April 14, 2025, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah underscored the strategic importance of the forum in catalyzing business growth.
“A lot of funds are going to come into the economy. Once a business starts, it stimulates the local economy where the company is located. People get employed, they earn income, pay taxes, and reinvest in the economy. That’s how growth happens,” he said.
Debrah emphasized that each participating bank at the forum is expected to support at least five viable, bankable projects this year alone.
“Next year, when we return to Kwahu, we expect those five supported entrepreneurs to come back and testify to their growth. If this continues over the next few years, we will have a tangible result—over 600 enterprises directly supported through this initiative,” he added.
The initiative reflects President Mahama’s broader vision to build a robust and inclusive business ecosystem that generates sustainable employment and enhances Ghana’s revenue base.
According to government sources, the forum will also explore policy frameworks and incentives to support enterprise development at the grassroots level.
The Kwahu Business Forum is expected to attract key stakeholders from across the finance, policy, and entrepreneurial sectors, making it a strategic platform for shaping Ghana’s business future.
