Kotoko showcased yet another impressive performance by securing a 2-0 victory over Legon Cities on Sunday.

In their 29th match of the ongoing Ghana Premier League season, the Porcupine Warriors displayed their newfound form, with Steven Mukwala’s missed chances not dampening their spirits. The Ugandan striker redeemed himself by converting a penalty in the 34th minute, marking his 11th goal of the season and propelling Kotoko into the lead.

The goal puts him joint-second on the scorers’ chart alongside Hearts of Oak’s Hamza Issah both a goal less than leader Stephen Amankona of Berekum Chelsea.

Despite efforts from Legon Cities, led by former Kotoko boss Paa Kwesi Fabin, to respond, the Porcupines doubled their lead in the 49th minute through Mohammed Nurudeen Yussif, securing a comfortable win.

Kotoko’s victory sees them placed 10th in the league standings, with five matches remaining in the season, as they aim to finish the campaign on a high note.

Meanwhile, Legon Cities occupy 11th place with 38 points.

In a surprising turn of events, bottom-placed Real Tamale United (RTU) stunned league leaders FC Samartex with a narrow win.

Despite FC Samartex’s defeat, they maintain their position at the top of the table with 52 points, seven points clear of Nations FC.

Other notable results include Medeama SC securing a late away victory over Great Olympics, while Bechem United was held to a 1-1 draw by Bibiani Gold Stars. Bofoakwa Tano and Dreams FC played to a 1-1 draw, and relegation-threatened Heart of Lions secured a vital 1-0 victory over Nsoatreman.
