Greening Ghana: All Hail Martha Kwayie

Martha, also known as “Obatanpa’ or “people’s mother” is known for the enthusiasm she has been attaching to the programme for the past three years she assumed the position as the Deputy CEO.

For the past three years that Martha Kwayie became a Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO) for the Forestry Commission, she has not only been enthusiastic in the Green Ghana Programme, but has also championed and pursued it to the latter.

It therefore came as no surprise when she became the toast of all during the recant “Green Ghana” programme embarked upon on June 7, 2024.

Martha, also known as “Obatanpa’ or “people’s mother” is known for the enthusiasm she has been attaching to the programme for the past three years she assumed the position as the Deputy CEO.

PROGRAMME TOUR

As usual Martha tasked with touring some parts, especially forest zones in the country a few days prior to the take off of the programme was at it again, and this year was no exception as she toured forest zones in the Western North, Western, Bono, Ahafo and other regions prior to the take off day.

THIS YEAR’S PROGRAMME: WESTERN NORTH REGION

After those pre-programme tours, Martha, with alacrity proceeded to the Western North Region (her home region) to supervise over the programme being mindful of the importance attached to the programme by the president Nana Addo Darkwah Akufo-Addo, who initiated it in 2021, with the sole aim of revamping the lost forest cover and to make Ghana green once more.

Subsequently at Owiaabroso, near Datano in the Wiawso Constituency, Martha and her team launched the year’s planting session on June 7, 2024. The well attended programme saw Chiefs, Chief Imam, the clergy, Teachers, school children, farmers, personnel from the security forces, the media and many more.

PROGRAMME AT PRESIDENT’S HEART

The Deputy CEO pointed out that the programme is at the heart of the initiate, president Nana Akufo-Addo, who intends to replace the lost forest cover throughout the country, especially the forest zones.

She stated that for the three years since the commencement of the programme, over 40 million seedlings have been planted nationwide, with the Western North Region planting over 1 million trees. Obatanpa indicated that it had recorded over 85% surviving rate.

The CEO urged all to get involved in the programme since it needs a concerted effort from all, stressing that there are many benefits ranging from social to economic associated with it.

MARTHA MOBBED UP: MOVES TO JUABOSO, ENCHIE

At the end of the programe, Martha became the toast of all as she was mobbed up with many taking pictures with her. From there, the Green Ghana enthusiast moved to Juaboso and Enchie to supervise the Green Ghana programme, where the story was no different.
