Hearts of Oak have decided to relocate their home games to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium following the closure of the Accra Sports Stadium due to scheduled Christmas events, according to Onua Sports.
The move means that the highly anticipated Ghana Premier League clash between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, initially slated for Accra on December 8, will now take place in Kumasi, with Hearts of Oak designated as the home team.
The Accra Sports Stadium, managed by event organizers for Christmas festivities, led to the temporary shift in venue. Hearts of Oak Board Member, Alhaji Brimah Moro Akambi, confirmed the decision, stating that the Phobians will play their home games at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for the remainder of the year. However, the club are open to considering other venues starting in 2023.
Currently, Hearts of Oak are positioned 14th on the league table with 12 points. Following the recent departure of coach Martinus Koopman, assistant Abdul Rahim Bashiru has been appointed to manage the team temporarily until a permanent appointment is made.
They face the Accra Lions on Tuesday, hoping to get back on track after three straight draws.
