Hopeson Adorye booted out of MCE race at Kpone Katamanso

It has been alleged that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Kpone Katamanso constituency in the 2020 elections, Hopeson Yaovi Adorye, who is also a member of the NPP communications team has been disqualified from the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) race in Kpone Katamanso in the Greater Accra, ghananewsonline.com.gh has gathered.

Hopeson Adorye was part of a list of candidates who geared up for the slot and was spotted lobbying some influential people, however, it appears his hope has been dashed by some other people in higher authority.

News of his exclusion from the list of four candidates shortlisted for the next stage of the process, has angered a cross-section of the party’s footsoldiers and it appears all is not well with the party in the constituency.

Rumors has it hat Hopeson Adorye was dropped from the list because of his perceived self conceitedness and pride.

According to party members who are making the claim of his disqualification including journalist Gordon Asare Bediako, the scheme to get him out was masterminded by the Greater Accra Regional chairman of the NPP, Divine Otoo Agorhom.

“It is regrettable and unfortunate that people who could not deliver the Greater Accra Region, in the last general elections for the NPP, will be leading the charge to block others from ascending to high office,” he stated on Oman FM’s political talk show ‘Boiling Point’ on Thursday June 10.

It was his view that Hopeson did not deserve the raw deal being handed him because among all the candidates he is the most qualified .

Another activist named Wofa Kay who was on the show pleaded with President Akufo-Addo to ensure Hopeson’s name is brought back and appointed.

He said Hopeson’s contribution in the party was so glaring in the last elections that people abroad stormed his constituency to campaign for him.

According to a peeved Wofa Kay, claims that Hopeson is quick tempered was unfounded because he has conducted himself very well over the period, and that his contest in the last elections shows that he has no issue when it comes to his character.

Hopeson Adorye, a former National Security operative at the Kotaka International Airport (KIA) Terminal 3, has in the past involved in controversies including attacking colleague panelists on radio stations, among others. In that attack on November 10, 2012, Hopeson Adorye allegedly physically assaulted Donkor Fuseini, a National Democratic Congress (NDC) panel member on Kumasi based Kessben FM show.

In December2020, he was arrested by the police for allegedly posting a voice message via WhatsAPP, threatening the immediate past MCE for the area and the man he is seeking to replace, Solomon Appiah. He accused the former MCE of not supporting his bid to become the MP for the area.
