Hopeson Adorye, the Director of Operations of the copy-cat pressure group called “Fixing the Country”, on Friday warned that his movement and the Akufo-Addo administration would not tolerate “imbecilic complaints” from members of the public whose lamentation of economic hardship is inspired by poverty.
Hopeson Adorye was recently defeated when he attempted to contest as the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Kpone Katamanso constituency in the 2020 parliamentary elections, He has since surfaced as one of the key figures in a group set up to counter the organic youth movement called #FixTheCountry.
Adorye’s anger was targeted at the Ghanaian youth who have associated with the #FixTheCountry movement.
“…Don’t capitalize on your poverty to spew imbecilic talk…If you call me and insult me, I will reply you with double venom,” Adorye had stated in an interview on Happy FM.
He went on to say he had only called a spade a spade and that in Ghana people like to tiptoe around the truth.
He reemphasized: “Oh yes, you see Ghana here we fear to speak the truth. You stay at home, while someone has gone out to work; look some people stand by the street to sell apples so as to eke out a living. You are sitting at home playing cards and you expect that who should come and put money in your pockets?”
Adorye is notorious for his angry outbursts and proneness to violent attacks on people that he disagrees with.
In 2020, he was arrested by the Tema Police over death threats against the MCE for Kpone Katamanso, Solomon Appiah.
Meanwhile, Fixing The Country is a scavenging of the name of the youth movement #FixTheCountry, and it was set up by the foul-mouthed Ernest Owusu-Bempah, the Director of Communications of Ghana Gas Company Limited (GGCL).
Adorye and Owusu-Bempah’s newly-formed group is a counter that the ruling party is widely believed to be sponsoring to counter the fast-rising youth movement.
#FixTheCountry has proven a powder keg for the disillusionment of Ghanaians with the Akufo-Addo government which has borrowed more than any government in the entire history of the country.
Despite borrowing close to GHC 200 billion, the Akufo-Addo administration has not been able to improve the country the way it had promised to do during the political campaign season.
