How an NPP Communication Team Member almost lost her cool on Metro TV

A member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s communication team almost lost her cool when a journalist with Metro Television asked her a question she saw as unwarranted.

On the station’s flagship Good Morning programme on Monday June 07, 2021, Ellen Ama Daaku was taken aback when sit-in hostess, out of the blue asked her who politicians donate motorbikes to when they go on campaign tours.

The question by Annie Afua Ampofo was triggered by a request by a midwife at Adavi in the Akatsi North district of the Volta Region, to government to provide her and colleagues with motorbikes as means of transportation.

The midwife, Angela Dzakpasu was called on the show to get insight the problems she has to deal with daily to provide quality healthcare to the people in her area, after a video of her went viral on the internet due to the bad nature of the roads.

Blessed Angel as she is popularly known, having taken viewers through the challenges, was given the opportunity to ask for support for her work. In her response, she appealed for funds and motorbikes, to aid her movements.

Recall the sorry of Blessed when she fell in mud on her way from delivering an emergency service to a woman in labour.

After delivering the baby and while on her way back on a hired motorbike, she slipped and fell as she tried to walk because the bike could not carry her at a portion of the road because of it terrible nature.

So, after ending the conversation, the hostess Annie tried to find out why people who need these motorbikes hardly get them when during campaigns, politicians donate motorbikes.

The journalist tried to seek answers from the communicator who had started making her submission.

But Ama could not tell who the motorbikes go to because even though she was part of the broad campaign, she was not in the position to know because, she wasn’t in-charge of logistics, after her initial reaction to the question.

As a fellow up to Annie’s question, a panel member Margaret Ansei aka Magoo, interjected in Ama’s explanation to ask why she didn’t know because she was part of the “broad campaign”.

Ama insisted she didn’t know but promised to find answers from the party and furnish Annie.

The outspoken communicator also promised to help raise funds from her women groups including female appointees, to support the work of the midwife and her colleagues.

Below is how the discussion went

Annie: I mean when you go round to campaign, who do you give the motorbikes to?

Ama; Ah, what sort of question is that? I am not the one who shares the motorbikes.

Annie: I am asking politicians. You are a politician. You don’t know who they share the motorbikes to?

Ama: I have no idea, I am not in charge.

Annie: You don’t know who they give to?

Magoo; the last time, you were part of the broad campaign, didn’t you share motorbikes?

I was not in charge of logistics so it will be difficult…… I have to ask.

I will ask. I mean this is the sort of question I have to ask.

Magoo:  You need to ask, it will be there you will know.
