Morocco is making significant progress in its quest to host the 2025 African Cup of Nations. The most recent success was passing the strict FIFA prerequisite for organizing an expanded new-format FIFA World Cup. They achieved this by becoming the only country to effectively get the greenlight in FIFA’s stringent requirements concerning health, hotel, sport, and infrastructure, making a country qualified to organize the new-look FIFA World Cup that includes 16 more teams.
Morocco got a thumbs up after a Task Force comprising several experts traversed the country in 2018 and awarded the country an above-average rating. The score made Morocco’s bid for the 2026 World Cup eligible.
