Hundreds of recent Junior High School (JHS) graduates, accompanied by concerned parents, gathered at the National Resolution Centre on Thursday, located at GNAT Hall in the Greater Accra Region hoping to resolve issues with their Senior High School (SHS) placements.
With school registration currently underway and academic activities set to commence on November 7, some students still face challenges in securing their placements.
Many parents and students at the centre expressed frustration, seeking help to change schools, switch from day to boarding status, or address other placement issues.
The Ministry of Education recently announced the release of the 2024/25 placement results for SHS and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions on Tuesday, October 29.
According to the Ministry, of the 563,339 JHS graduates whose results were submitted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), 553,155 candidates were deemed eligible for placement.
Out of the eligible candidates, 447,698 (representing 80.93%) were automatically placed in one of their selected schools.
However, 104,918 eligible students were not matched with any of their preferred schools and are encouraged to use the Self-Placement platform to select a school of their choice.
As families work to finalize placements, the Ministry’s Self-Placement platform remains a critical option for those yet to secure a school.
The Ministry is urging parents and students to be patient and use the available resources to resolve placement challenges before the new academic term begins.
