“I am Ready for Another Vetting if they Like” – Ablakwa

Minister-designate for Foreign Affairs and Member of Parliament for the North Tongu constituency, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has responded strongly to recent controversies stirred by Alexander Afenyo-Markin and his minority group. In a Facebook post, Ablakwa dismissed the allegations against him, describing them as desperate smear tactics and baseless fabrications.

“They had every opportunity when I appeared before them for vetting, but they chose to run away. They had every opportunity when they were in power for eight years to have me prosecuted, but they failed because there was nothing they could find,” he stated.

Ablakwa accused his opponents of resorting to what he called “infantile fabrications” through press conferences, emphasizing his readiness to face another vetting process if necessary.

“If they want a second round of vetting, I am ready for them,” he declared.

He further defended his role as a Member of Parliament, asserting that his efforts to protect public resources and state assets were in line with his constitutional mandate of oversight.

“It is not a crime for a Member of Parliament to patriotically and diligently seek the protection of public resources and state assets pursuant to our constitutional mandate of oversight. Those on the side of truth and justice can never be intimidated,” he added.

Ablakwa reiterated his commitment to President John Mahama’s policies and reforms at the Foreign Ministry, expressing confidence in their imminent implementation.

“I shall remain focused on President Mahama’s exciting reset innovations which we are on the verge of implementing at the Foreign Ministry,” he affirmed.

Ablakwa’s comments come in the wake of intense political debate, setting the stage for what could be another round of heated discussions within Ghana’s political landscape.
