Popular Ghanaian TikToker Ebenezer Kofi Arthur, known as Deaconess Abokoma has reaffirmed his love towards his father despite the brazen negligence over his wellbeing while growing up.
In an interview with Zionfelix, he emphasized that he is grateful to his father for giving him life, which has in the long run proven to be worthy and central to other people’s happiness.
As a result, he stated that he has no plan of publicly or privately tainting his father’s image despite the many unjustifiable ills he has endured at his hand.
“The fact that my father didn’t take care of me doesn’t mean I will publicly disgrace him. So far as he has given me life and I have become useful in amusing people, I am grateful to him. My mother died at the age of 16 years.”
Sharing his story, Deaconess Abokoma said he missed paternal affection in his childhood, a situation that made him develop a habit of going to the Takoradi Mall.
“I missed fatherly affection growing up that’s why I developed a habit of going to the mall. At the Takoradi Mall, you will see beautiful nuclear families shopping and interacting. I didn’t experience it from where I was coming from. My mother hustled to put food on the table.”
“To date, my father doesn’t know any of my teachers nor how my upkeep went. The day I took him out of my heart was the day I undertook surgery. That was in 2021 and things got so difficult financially. It wasn’t easy. I called him to ask for help and what he said was I am not his only child.
“I was in a wheelchair with a catheter. I got paralysed for a long time. Even after the surgery, I didn’t hear from him. Until now, he has no idea whether I died or survived the surgery. I won’t hate him for this reason. For the fact that he gave me life and I still live progressing in life, I am grateful. When he dies, I will fund his burial. If I hear my father needs help, I will help him.”
He believes there may be a reason his father treated him the way he did and waits to hear it sooner or later as well as get the deserved apology.
“I know he will regret one day….”
