Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has clearly stated that he will resign from a future government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government that indulges in state capture.
The North Tongu lawmaker says he cannot be preaching equity with soiled hands, considering the embarrassment that will accompany such a practice.
Mr. Ablakwa was commenting on his various exposés that has save the nation millions of cedis, including the latest on the attempt to sell of the 60 per cent stake of SSNIT in some four hotels.
Speaking with Yaa Titi Okrah on Onua TV’s morning show, Maakye, Monday, July 15, 2024, the Member of Parliament stated that he does not need to serve as a Minister to survive.
He reiterated his readiness to opt out of such administration should members of his government embark on capturing state assets.
“I will not just speak, but I will resign from the government. I won’t be part of it. That we come to power and these things that we are condemning, we come and do the same things, I won’t be part of such a government. I’ll just be in Parliament and I’ll be paid for it.
“I don’t have to be a Minister before I can eat. There are so many things I can do. There are so many people who are not in government who are doing well,” he disclosed.
He added that he was glad the flag bearer of his party, John Dramani Mahama, has already shared his commitment to ensuring none of his appointees indulges in state capture.
Mr. Ablakwa further expressed his hope that before the commencement of an NDC government, the bill baring public officials from acquiring state properties will be passed.

“That is why I was happy when former President Mahama clearly said at his press conference that he won’t allow any member of his government to buy state assets and he listed, be it a car, land, forest, bungalow and whatever. So he has promised and I’m hoping that before we come to government, we’ll pass that Protection of Public Assets Bill so that it will not even arise but I can give you the full assurance that I will not be part of that cabal,” he explained.
