Ghana’s Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has promised to protect the public purse and use it selflessly to serve Ghanaians in the unlikely situation that he wins the 2024 presidential elections.
Unlike his main opponent in the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bawumia says when he becomes president he will ensure that the country’s resources are judiciously used.
Dr. Bawumia said he is not the same as former president John Dramani Mahama who has been a president and a vice president before but could not protect the public purse and transform the lives of the Ghanaian people.
Outlining his job creation plans for the Ghanaian youth, Dr. Bawumia stated that the notion that a former president and a vice president are the same cannot be true in any sense.
“I will tell you why we are all not the same and cannot be the same, I am not John Mahama. He is a former President and a former Vice President. I am a Vice President who has never been a President before, who is asking you for the opportunity to lead and show what I can do if offered the opportunity, this December,” Bawumia said.
“You can trust me to protect the public purse and use it selflessly to serve you. To the young voters of Ghana, I will say to you, do not switch off. I ask you to get involved. December is about you; December is about who can deliver for you. For your future, whom you trust, who has integrity, the vision, the energy, the competency,” he added.
Dr, Bawumia indicated that the world is moving to digitalization and he is the man of the moment who has the idea to compete with developed countries.
Adding that it is important for Ghanaians to choose somebody who is humble and decent in his politics.
“The sense of where the world is today, and your place in it, who has the humility to serve you and the decency not to insult you.” Dr. Bawumia said.
