I won because of my Philanthropic Work – NPP Parliamentary Candidate

Mr. Frederick Addy, who emerged winner in the just ended New Patriotic Party (NPP) orphan constituency election in the Suaman Constituency in the Western North Region, has attributed his win to the Philanthropic work he has been rendering to the people of the Community over the years.

While debunking claims of vote – buying, Mr. Frederick Addy, a private individual maintained that the people of Suaman, having acknowledged his philanthropic works all these years did not only campaign for him before and during the election, but also resolved to vote massively for him, thus enabling him pull 175 out of the 253 votes cast, against 78 by the sitting DCE, Christian Baah with whom he contested.

“How could have a private individual won over a sitting District Chief Executive (DCE) who has all the resources and control in the district, but for his philanthropic work? “queried one party faithful.

According to him, the DCE, who contested in the 2016 Parliamentary elections with the National Democratic congress (NDC) candidate, S.M.E Ackah, was beaten by only 12 votes. Therefore, he was tipped to win this primaries and the subsequent parliamentary election in 2020.

However after having been made DCE by the NPP government, he lost touch and grounds with the people, learning them to their fate thereafter. As such all the expectations and needs of the people were relegated to the background by the DCE to whom all resources of development were entrusted.

Therefore, finding solace in the good works of Uncle Freddy, they decided to vote en mass for him with the hope and confidence that he can snatch the Suaman seat for the NPP in 2020, so as to send Dadieso to the next needed level.

Philanthropic works

According to Uncle Freddy, as he is affectionately called , he has been rendering his philanthropic works to the people in the community for over five years now.

He indicated that in the process, he has provided social amenities which benefits all the people. These, he maintained, include markets, schools, Health Centres, pipe born water, constructional works and many more.

Also, he has been catering for not only the needy in the society, but paying fees for students, putting people in various trades and buying them starting kits.

He revealed that he has catered for not less than 70 students in tertiary institutions, while paying fees for hundreds of students in second cycle institutions. He pointed out that in all, over GH¢100,000 has been disbursed in this regard, with the services continuing unabated.

It was also gathered that Uncle Freddy had been very instrumental in the constructional works of the Dadieso township roads, covering open gutters constructed, while donating cement, iron rods, stones and the necessary materials in this regard.

Besides, he has been contributing immensely in cash and kind to Churches, Mosque and their related programmes. As a result, he has received the benediction of these men of God, opinion leaders and all stakeholders hence his success and win in the primaries.

NO Vote-Buying

Uncle Freddy vehemently denied any vote-buying in the primaries, stressing that it was his good works and the appreciation and wish of the people that spoke for him.

He was however quick to point out that in such contests, one cannot rule outs pending money. This is because, if people waste their time, energy and resources on a candidate, he cannot afford to look on unconcerned, stressing that, that was the situation in the entire competition, i.e. payment on the two sides, and that if anything at all, he reciprocated gestures from the other side.

Friendly Fire – Brotherly Contest

Uncle Freddy pointed out that the contest between him and the DCE was just a friendly and brotherly one since they all belong to the same family. He mentioned that after the election, Christian congratulated him and they embraced each other before the teaming crowd.

Also, on Sunday, hand-in-hand, the two of them (contestants) stralled the length and breath of the town to the surprise and happiness of all. However, time will tell to what extent they are together, stressing that with him, unity was his ultimate goal, with such teaming crowd they could win the seat.

According to him, the crowd that greeted his win was so teaming and massive that he could not come out but just wave at them as both his house and office were beside by the teaming crowd. He took the opportunity to thank all, promising that he will not abandon them but continue with the goal and the philanthropic works that he has been rendering them all these years in his new capacity.

Suaman For Grabs by NPP

Uncle Freddy assured all that with their unflinching support, the Suaman Constituency will be for grabs by the NPP in 2020. According to him, this has not only been his ultimate goal, but also the wish of the people, hence voting massively for him. He urged them to rally solidly behind him in unity and solidarity for them to reach the “promised land”.

According to him, going to contest with a farmer DCE in the 2020 election, was not much of a problem. All that he needed was the total support of all, both his supporters and those of his contestant to achieve their dream of an NPP Suaman Constituency come 2020.

No Comments – DCE

When Mr. Christian Baah was contacted, he declined to give any comments, saying that at the appropriate, time, he will do so via the media. He however admitted losing the contest and congratulating Freddy, adding that they are together.
