I won’t tell you lies, I won’t tell you things I can’t fulfill – Mahama to Ghanaians

“The problem with this country is that policies are based on the short cycles of winning elections every four years, and we are not creating the foundation for this economy to take off,”

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Mahama has assured Ghanaians that he will not make false promises or commitments he cannot fulfill.

At the NDC campaign launch in Tamale on Saturday (27 July) Mr. Mahama acknowledged the challenges faced during his previous tenure but emphasised the progress made under his leadership.

“I’ve been out of government for eight years now. I did my best; I wouldn’t say things were perfect, but at least we were making progress,” he said to a large gathering of NDC supporters.

“What I can promise you is that I will be truthful to you, I will never tell you lies, I will never tell you things I cannot do.”

He criticized the short-term focus of current policies driven by the electoral cycle, stating that it hinders the long-term development of the economy.

“The problem with this country is that policies are based on the short cycles of winning elections every four years, and we are not creating the foundation for this economy to take off,” he noted.

Mr. Mahama pledged to work tirelessly to improve the country’s fortunes if re-elected. He aims to address the shortcomings of the Akufo-Addo administration and lay a strong foundation for future generations.

“My intention is to ameliorate what has been done by the Akufo-Addo government and reset the country for future generations,” he declared.
