King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, has urged Ghanaians, especially the youth, to desist from being used as elements of mayhem to disrupt the December 07 elections.
He has advised persons who may find themselves in such positions to tell those who will ask them to cause trouble to get their children involved.
According to him, politicians use people to achieve their mission and dump them afterwards.
Nii Adu Blefo, who spoke on behalf of the Ga Mantse, at the launch of ‘Abatoɔ Asoɔeɛ‘, Onua TV and FM’s version of Election Command Centre Wednesday, September 11, 2024, admonished the public that there is only one Ghana which needs to be protected.
“I plead with the whole Ghana. If somebody approaches you and tells you this is what I want you to do, ‘go and snatch the ballot box’, tell that person his first son should join because right after elections, nobody knows you. I urge all Ghanaians, we have only one country called Ghana,” he said on behalf of the Ga Mantse.
He also saluted the security agencies for their role in ensuring peaceful elections for the past 32 years, urging them to make sure this year’s polls is conducted peacefully.
He said there has already been some comments which do not propel peace, calling on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and heads of the other security agencies to be up to the task.
“We don’t have any other place to go so I plead with everybody especially our security. They have done their best all these 8 times and I salute them for doing that. They have proven that indeed they are in charge.
“But the threats that have gone on here and there, I plead with the IG and his crew and all the security agencies to push more to make sure we have a peaceful election, before and after. We don’t want any war, we don’t want anything that will destroy this democracy,” he stated.
He reiterated the call on the electorates to go to their homes after voting to avoid any confusion at the polling centres.
“I plead on behalf of my chief, Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru, and my paramount chief, Nii Gbese, Nii Ayibonte II and the others, I stand and say to every Ghanaian, when you vote, leave the premises, go home, go and do your duty. Don’t come back to snatch ballot box, it won’t help us.”
