Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics Mussa Dankwah has said that it is a disgrace if it is established that items were stolen during the raid on the home of the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Ernest Addison.
Mussa Dankwah called for investigations into the matter.
He was reacting to the allegation that Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin made that some money could not be found after Richard Jakpa led national security operatives stormed the home of Dr Addison in Roman Ridge, Accra, on Wednesday, March 19.
The operatives reportedly disabled the CCTV system before conducting their search.
“Some GHC10,000 on his bed could not be found. So some of these hungry party foot soldiers they use who parade themselves as National Security Operatives are after all perhaps not being paid, and they use this opportunity to steal,” Afenyo-Markin claimed.
He added “The governor’s wife’s earrings and necklaces were also not traced. They couldn’t be found. In other words, those operatives stole these earrings and necklaces. Ghana is a matured democracy, and we should do better.”
In a Facebook post Mussa Dankwah said “If true, then it is a disgrace. National Security cannot behave like this. This should be investigated and if true, those involved should be sacked. You cannot search a suspect without him been present because you could plant evidence. If a security service is behaving like this how do you expect to win cases in court? I will be surprised if they took inventory of items collected as exhibits. Will it include the alleged missing items? All personnel sent for such operations in the futute should wear body cameras to record their actions.”
Meanwhile, National Security has revealed to 3News.com that empty money storage boxes were discovered at the residence of former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison, during a raid on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
According to National Security officials, they had obtained a search warrant before entering Dr. Addison’s Roman Ridge home. They claim the operation was based on intelligence suggesting that the former governor was in possession of funds belonging to the central bank.
In an exclusive interview to 3News.com, National Security also admitted to handling the CCTV system in Addison’s residence, explaining that they retrieved the hard drive as part of standard investigative procedures.
However, they firmly denied allegations that operatives stole cash or jewelry from the household.
“We did not take any money or jewelry from Dr. Addison’s home. We will, in due course, make public a full list of items retrieved during the search,” a National Security source stated.
