Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Minister for Food and Agriculture, on Wednesday 22nd September, 2020 swore in the newly constituted Board for the Cocoa Marketing Company Ghana Ltd (C.M.C), a subsidiary of Ghana Cocoa Board in Accra.
The new Board took the oath of office and secrecy to make them fully fledged members to spearhead affairs and to achieve the mandate set before them with responsibility for selling Ghana’s cocoa abroad.
The global commodity trading industry is going through challenging times and C.M.C is no exception. The board was therefore tasked by the Minister to assist management especially in solving the issue of delayed payment to cocoa farmers of which he promised to provide them with the political support needed to execute their responsibilities.
The Chairman of the Board, Mr Joseph Kobina Essibu, accepted the appointment on behalf of the other members and expressed his profound gratitude for the honour done them. He promised to work together with his team to achieve the stated objectives of management.
Other members of board which includes those appointed by the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo are Mr. Vincent Okyere Akomeah (Managing Director, C.M.C); Hon. Andy Appiah-Kubi (President’s Nominee); Dr Emmanuel Tuffour (President’s Nominee); Mrs Elsie Awadzi (Bank of Ghana); Mr David Klotey Collison (Ministry of Finance); Mr Osei Owusu-Agyeman (Minister of Food and Agriculture); Mr William Benjamin Essuah (Farmer); and Dr Emmanuel Opoku (COCOBOD)
