It is dangerous to have KT Hammond and Stephen Amoah as minister and deputy at the same ministry – Murtala

“When he said we should pray for KT Hammond and Stephen Amoah, my understanding of it is that we should pray they don’t exchange blows. These are two very complex individuals who are going to work together at the same ministry”

Member of Parliament for Tamale Central and former Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed has warned that putting Adansi Asokwa MP, KT Hammond as the minister for Trade and industry, with Stephen Amoah, MP for Nhyiaeso as his deputy minister is dangerous and counter-productive.

In his response to a question by Johnnies Hughes on 3FM Sunrise Morning Show about his assessment of the appointment of the two members of parliament as ministers for the trade ministry, Murtala Muhammed referred to an earlier plea by MP for Asante Akyem North, Mr. Appiah Kubi for prayers to be said for the minister designates.

“When he said we should pray for KT Hammond and Stephen Amoah, my understanding of it is that we should pray they don’t exchange blows. These are two very complex individuals who are going to work together at the same ministry” Murtala Muhammed described the appointment of KT Hammond and Dr. Stephen Amoah

The former deputy minister of trade espouses that the trade ministry has two blocks thus; trade and industries which is the reason it has always had two deputy ministers with one handling industry and the other handling trade.

“Another bizarre appointment is the Ministry of Trade. You now have three deputies; I mean it is ridiculous. It simply doesn’t make sense when people are asking you to downsize. There is going to be conflict”

He also condemned the appointment of ministers of state. “It is not necessary, absolutely bonkers that you are appointing more ministers of states to exert more pressure on the government kitty” Murtala Muhammed fumed

The Tamale Central MP further alleged that finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta is the powerful than president Akufo-Addo hence all those parliamentarians who defended him have been rewarded with ministerial appointments.

“All those who defended Ken in the matter of his removal have been given appointments and promoted. That is why I am saying the man is the most powerful person in this government” he stated
