For what is expected to bring the euphoria of Christmas to life even quicker than imagined, only few days to the actual festive celebration, events company, Jandel Limited is lighting up some principal streets of Accra in a most historic way.
Code-named Light Up Accra, the initiative will combine lights, flowers and creativity from some of the best in the decoration field.
The Independence Avenue (Liberation Road) , which will mark the most principal of all the streets to be lighted up for the festive season, will come alive as lights go on and off, blasting colours of all shades into the atmosphere, as has never been experienced in Accra before.
And all of this is being made possible because of what has been a dream of many years of the Chief Executive Office of Jandel, Ms. Afi Amoro, in seeing the city of Accra lighted up for Christmas.
Ms. Afi Amoro, in a statement issued on the momentous event, said, “Christmas is a season that brings joy, life and light into the hearts and minds of people. It is for the purpose that Jandel over the past years has been developing this concept to bring good cheer to the streets for Christmas and new year.”
The ceremony is being done in collaboration with the Ecobank, Standard Chartered Bank and the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) and will take place on Wednesday, December, 18, 2019.
According to the statement, “almost all the decorative work and refurbishment of materials you will see on the streets were made by over 120 local talented craftsmen and artisans of our great nation.”
Here’s the full statement:
Hello and Merry Christmas. I’m Afi Amoro, CEO of Jandel. For the past 23years, Jandel has been dedicated to making a difference in the lives of people.
Christmas is a season that brings joy, life, and light into the hearts and minds of people.
Regardless of the background or social status, there is a celebratory wind that moves throughout the country. It is for the purpose that Jandel over the past years has been developing this concept to bring good cheer to the streets for Christmas and new year. This year collaboration with the AMA and corporate institutions such as Ecobank and Standard Chartered has brought life and light into the city by bringing Christmas to our streets.
This year we focused on some principal streets such as the independence avenue which in itself reminds us of our freedom and strength as a country. Therefore what better place to spark the flame and light up the spirit of Christmas. In this year of return, we want to welcome our brothers and sisters from the diaspora. These moments connect us to each other and also encourage a sense of fellowship and community.
Almost all the decorative work and refurbishment of materials you will see on the streets were made by over 120 local talented craftsmen and artisans of our great nation. Let’s support our local products as well as our local talent.
