John Mahama Urges First-Time Voters to Register for Change

"Do you want to see real change in Ghana? Do you want to help build the Ghana we all want? Then you must register with the Electoral Commission if you are not yet a registered voter."

Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has called on first-time voters to register with the Electoral Commission to shape the future of Ghana.

In a statement on X, Mr. Mahama emphasized the importance of voting, saying, “Do you want to see real change in Ghana? Do you want to help build the Ghana we all want? Then you must register with the Electoral Commission if you are not yet a registered voter.”

In its programme of activities for the 2024 general election, the EC will conduct a voters’ registration exercise from May 7 to May 27, 2024, and proceed with a nationwide exercise to replace missing voter ID cards from May 30, 2024.

Per the schedule, EC intends to submit the provisional voters’ register to the political parties between July 9 and 18, 2024, and mount an exhibition of the voters register between July 15 and 24, 2024.

The final voters’ register is expected to be submitted to the political parties between August 30 and September 5, 2024.

The NDC flagbearer emphasized that the upcoming election on December 7, 2024, is a crucial moment for the country’s future, and every vote matters.

“Your vote for John Mahama and the NDC is crucial in shaping the future of our country. Don’t miss out on your chance to make a difference. Register to vote and be a part of the change we all want to see,” he urged.

Mr. Mahama’s call to action comes as the Electoral Commission begins its voter registration exercise, aimed at enrolling eligible Ghanaians onto the electoral roll. The NDC flagbearer’s appeal is seen as a bid to mobilize young voters and first-time voters to participate in the democratic process and effect change in the country’s leadership.
