Ketu North NDC Primaries: Gabriel Kwamigah Tanko files Nominations, promises to empower grassroots 

The Parliamentary Aspirant hopeful was sure of emerging as the NDC's Parliamentary Candidate after the polls on May 13, and to go on to become the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ketu North after the 2024 general elections

 

A leading contender in the upcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Primaries in the Ketu North constituency, Gabriel Kwamigah-Atokple Tanko, has officially filed his nomination for the contest scheduled for May 13, with a renewed hope and promise to transform and empower the base of the party when voted as the NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency.

Tanko who was accompanied by an overwhelming number of party delegates and supporters to the party’s constituency office in Dzodze on Tuesday to file his documents, told Ghananewsonline.com.gh in an interview that he was committed to empowering and transforming the rural economy of the Ketu North constituency by creating employment opportunities for the youth through various skills and apprenticeship training programs as well as scholarship schemes to help brilliant but needy students access quality education.

He said he would also leverage on oil palm, a common agriculture produce Ketu North was noted for cultivating in large and commercial quantities to open up the Municipality to investors in Agriculture and Agri-business.

The Parliamentary Aspirant hopeful who contested the Primaries in 2019, but lost narrowly to incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Dr. James Klutse Avedzi said, livelihood empowerment opportunities for women and girls was also tall on his agenda and promised to harness all the available and necessary human and material resources in the Municipality to “transform the economic conditions of our mothers and sisters and to create the enabling environment for them to earn more meaningful livelihoods.”

The businessman and father of three, who is widely tipped as the best replacement for Dr James Klutse Avedzi who is no longer running for the position, assured all delegates and party members of running an issue based campaign ahead of the primaries, devoid of insults and acrimony, and called on other aspirants to “endeavor to do same in the interest of the peace and unity of our great umbrella family.”

The Parliamentary Aspirant hopeful was sure of emerging as the NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate after the polls on May 13, and to go on to become the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ketu North after the 2024 general elections.

He urged party delegates to throw their full support behind him and to vote massively for him “so that together we can realize our shared dream of “a new dawn” (Nubuke) for our dear Ketu North constituency.”

Also in the Parliamentary Candidate aspirant’s entourage were Hon. Harry Zakkour, Chairman of the party’s National Welfare Committe and a former National Vice Chairman of the party, Mr Dela Tortchar, a former Presidential Staffer, Mr Noah Afornorpe, a businessman and Chairman of Ghana Lotto Operators Association as well as some members of the National Welfare Committe of the NDC.
