Yirenkyikrom Youth Association has donated assorted items to the Kwahu Yirenkyirom community in the Kwahu South District of the Eastern Region.
The items worth thousands of Ghana Cedis include new and used clothing, rice, oil and bags, among others.
The youth also organized a clean-up exercise session in the community led by Samuel Yirenkyi Obeng, who is the president of the Association.
Speaking in an interview with Ghananewsonline.com.gh, Obeng said the gesture was part of the Association’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in responding to the needs of deprived areas.
Nana Kesse who is the Public Relations Officer for the association revealed that, some of the items were solicited from the Member of Parliament for the area, Mr. Seth Kwame Acheampong, friends and philanthropists who support the needy. He explained that the core value is to support education, health among others in the society.
“The organization would work assiduously to ensure the sustainability of the project, because responding to the needs of the underprivileged, helps to build their confidence and make them feel loved in society. We are therefore appealing to the public and other corporate bodies to support our Association in cash, or items to enable us continue to advance the cause of humanity,” he added.
Nana Sasu Kyere II, the Odikro of Kwahu Yirenkyikrom community commended the management of the association for the donation. He said the gesture was the first of its kind in the community. He appealed to the government to come to their aid and build a school and a CHPS compound for the community.
