President Akufo-Addo has appointed Kwasi Agyei as the new Acting Controller and Accountant-General (CAG).
His appointment comes after Kwasi Kwaning-Bosompem, who served the Department for five years resigned from his position.
Mr. Agyei resumed office on Monday, April 16, after a brief handing-over ceremony at the Treasury head office in Accra.
In a statement, Mr. Agyei expressed his appreciation to President Akufo-Addo and Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam for the chance to serve the country in this capacity.
Mr. Agyei asked for the cooperation and commitment of every department employee, acknowledging that they all had obligations and difficulties ahead of them.
He made it clear that he placed a high priority on staff welfare, saying that any organization’s ability to succeed was mainly dependent on how happy and content its employees were. In order to sustain high productivity and accomplish goals, he promised to establish an environment at work that valued employee welfare, acknowledged accomplishments, and promoted growth.
In order to make CAGD a better place for everyone, Mr. Agyei asked all department employees to support him.
The acting CAG’s appointment from within the department excited outgoing Controller and Accountant-General Kwasi Kwaning-Bosompem, who felt it would inspire employees.
Mr. Kwaning-Bosompem noted massive improvements and technological transformations under his leadership, particularly in payroll, national accounts, and public financial management policies and programs, and thanked stakeholders for their support.
