La Constituency Elections: MP holds Breakfast Meeting with Aspirants

All current constituency executives are seeking to retain their positions while some new ones have declared their intentions to oust them.

Member of Parliament (MP) for the La Dade-Kotopon Constituency in the Greater Region, Madam Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, has held a breakfast meeting with members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who are aspiring for various executive positions of the party in the area.

The MP organised the breakfast meeting purposely for 46 hardworking NDC members who came out to opt for one position or the other to be part of La Dade-Kotopon Constituency Executives.

All current constituency executives are seeking to retain their positions while some new ones have declared their intentions to oust them.

Their strong intentions are geared towards how to retain the parliamentary seat and maximize votes for the NDC party in the area come 2024 general elections.

The breakfast meeting was purposely to ensure there is a peaceful primaries and a united front in pursuit of victory for NDC in 2024.

Hon. Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, who appeared as the family head, generously paid for the nomination forms for each of the 48 aspirants after considering the primaries as a friendly contest among family members.

She informed the aspirants that the NDC as usual is uniting as one family so the onus is on them at La to also help strengthen that unity at the constituency level, hence the need for her to organise such a breakfast meeting.

Hon. Rita, affectionately called ‘Naa Odoley’ appealed to the aspirants who turned out massively at the meeting to hold clean campaigns that could win the sympathy of the delegates.

She further appealed to them to advice their followers to desist from SAYING ANYTHING that has the tendency of fomenting trouble and disunity amongst NDC in the area going into the crucial elections 2024.

A former NHIA Boss, Sylvester Mensah, who chaired the event acknowledged the good intentions of each aspirant, but was quick to admonish them to go into the contest with two expectations, – a  win or a loss as they campaign to woo delegates for votes.

Mr. Mensah further advised them among other things that the contest is going to produce no winners or losers. He said the need to get leaders to lead for togetherness and to work for the NDC to snatch power in 2024 is the focus now.

The former La Dade-Kotopon MP, Nii Amasa Namoale and other former constituency executives and some party elders graced the well-attended breakfast meeting.

They also took their turns to advice the hardworking party members who are aspiring for one position or another.

Hon. Emmanuel Kwapong, Chairman of a-5-member Elections Directorate for the La Dade-Kotopon NDC and his two Deputies were in attendance and pledged to ensure things are done right for a peaceful primaries come October 22 and 23, 2022.
