The Ministry of Health (MoH) has emphasized that the construction of the La General Hospital is undergoing steady progress.
This disputes reports that the project has halted, causing undue concern among the residents and the public at large.
In a press statement issued on October 28, it asserted that the Government has expressed its full commitment to seeing to the timely completion of the healthcare facility and operationalising it as soon as possible.
“The construction of the La General Hospital has not been halted. In fact, over the past few weeks, significant progress has been made, with various stages of construction expedited to ensure timely completion.”
It added, “The Ministry confirms that the contractor overseeing this project has recently submitted a certificate for payment as part of standard operational procedures. This certificate is currently being processed by the Ministry.
“It is essential to note that these procedures are standard across all government-funded projects, ensuring transparency and compliance with financial protocols. This in no way indicates a halt of the project; rather, it is a necessary step to guarantee the continuity of work.”
It also noted that it is closely monitoring and facilitating the progress of the hospital to ensure its timely completion alongside other stakeholders.
